Citizen Tips Police to Car Burglaries on Alexandria Court

Around 3 a.m., a neighbor spots male subject standing in front of a home on Alexandria Court near a vehicle with the front driver's-side door open and a bag on the ground near him.

A resident in the area of Alexandria Court on Geneva's East Side tipped police to what might have been a series of car burglaries in the early-morning hours Friday, Oct. 11.

Someone entered a vehicle in the 1200 block of Alexandria Court sometime prior to 3:13 a.m. Oct. 11, Geneva police reports said. A complainant told police that a male subject was standing in front of a home on Alexandria Court near a vehicle with the front driver’s-side door open and a bag on the ground near him. The man then picked up the bag and walked toward Chesapeake Way.

Police responded and found a Mitsubishi Galant with its dome light on, and it appeared someone had rummaged through the glove compartment and removed papers onto the floor of the car.

Police contacted the owner, who looked inside the car and told police nothing had been taken, but someone clearly had entered without the owner’s permission.

Officers observed a second vehicle — this one a Honda CRV — with its dome light on. Again, the owner was contacted and acknowledged that someone had indeed been inside the vehicle but told police nothing appeared to have been stolen.
