CBS 2's Dave Savini Faces Battery, DUI Charges in Naperville

CBS 2's Dave Savini faces DUI and battery charges after an incident in Naperville.

CBS 2 reporter Dave Savini was charged Saturday with misdemeanor battery, DUI and endangering the life of a child after a traffic accident in Naperville, the Daily Herald reported.

The newspaper reported that the driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident told police that Savini pushed him when he attempted to photograph Savini's license plate. The newspaper reported that Savini, a Naperville resident, left the scene of the incident which occurred at about 12:20 a.m. in the parking lot of a Taco Bell.

The Naperville Sun reported that Savini was pulled over a short time later near Saratoga and Plainfield-Naperville roads. The Sun reported that Savini had two children in the vehicle with him at the time of the traffic stop. Savini also was charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

Savini has worked for CBS 2 since July 2004. In 2008, Savini won the Alfred I duPont-Columbia University Award for his reporting on holes in security at O'Hare International Airport.

Savini's page on the CBS 2 website states that he has won 12 local Emmy awards and 29 Associate Press awards.
