Although the ban has now been lifted, normal safety precautions should still be used if an individual over the age of 18 decides to have a recreational fire on his or her property, fire officials said. Those precautions include maintaining safe distance between buildings and structures, having a garden hose or other means to ready extinguish a fire nearby, and never leaving the fire unattended.
