Burglar Ransacks Home on Richards Street

Police reports: A man leaves for an errand, locks his door, and returns to find his home ransacked, police reports say. Be careful with your bicycles: Two are stolen this week.

Here is a roundup of non-traffic incidents gathered Wednesday from Geneva Police reports.

Burglary—A checkbook, box of coins, video camera and several jewelry items were taken between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Friday from a house in the 700 block of Richards Street. The homeowner said he left to do some errands, and when he returned, his master bedroom had been ransacked. The front door was locked, reports said.

Burglary from Motor Vehicle—Someone took a Garmin GPS and a cell phone from a Toyota Sienna parked on Williamsburg Avenue sometime between 9:15 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday, police reports said.

Burglary from Motor Vehicle—A person or persons took power tools earlier this week from an unlocked Ford Cargo Van parked on the street in the 500 block of Bloomfield Circle.

Bicycle Stolen—Someone took a Jamis Nova race hybrid bicycle valued at more than $1,100 from Bicycle Heaven, 12 E. State St., between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday.

Bicycle Stolen—A gray Raleigh mountain bike was taken from the Geneva Metra station between 8 a.m. and 7:20 p.m. Sept. 2. The bicycle is valued at more than $300.

Golf Clubs Taken—Someone took a golf bag and clubs lying in a yard in the 500 block of Highbury Lane between 8 a.m. Sept. 4 and 8 a.m. Sept. 5, police reports said. The clubs are valued at less than $300.

Prescription Meds Taken—Someone took a LINK card and about 18 pills of prescription medication between 5 p.m. Monday and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday from the purse of a resident who had fallen asleep on the couch of her home in the 100 block of Howard Street.
