Bunches of Bicycles and Other Stuff Taken from Apartments

Police reports: It's the season to get back on the bicycle—apparently for thieves, as well.

Three tenants of an apartment complex reported a total of five bicycles, a scooter and some power tools were taken from a storage basement of the apartments in the 0-100 block of Simpson Street, reports said.

The bicycles and other things were taken sometime between March 5 and March 9.

Reports indicated that the door to the basement was locked, but the basement is accessible by anyone living in the apartment complex.

There was slight damage to the wood of the door area between the locking mechanism and the door jam, one report said. Another report said the apartment owner found pry marks in the area of the latch and strike plate on the door of the storage unit. Police also observed a two-inch hole above the door knob.

Stolen from one tenant were a purple-with-sparkles girls bicycle with clear handle bars and multicolored banana seat, a hot pink little-girl’s bicycle and an adult’s purple and silver Mongoose Trail Bike.
