UPDATE: Grass Fire Breaks Out Near Friendship Station Preschool in Geneva
The school appeared to be evacuated after a fire formed outside. The blaze was over by 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Fire crews reported to the scene of a brush fire Tuesday afternoon near a preschool on Geneva's west side.
The fire broke out sometime after 1:30 p.m. within about 150 feet of in Geneva. The fire appeared to have been put out by 1:58 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Patch reporter at the scene.
The Geneva Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 1:41 p.m, Fire Chief Steve Olson said.

There was a visible area of charred ground about a quarter-acre in size just east of the preschool. The fire damaged grass down to the dirt.
Firefighters were still at scene after 2 p.m., looking for a point of origin for the blaze. The source of ignition for the fire was unknown as of Tuesday afternoon, according to Olson.

Students from the preschool were seen outside their building sitting in the shade over at Geneva Middle School South.
None of the structures in the area near the fire were threatened, Olson said.
