The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Geneva police arrested a 21-year-old Geneva man on charges of domestic battery after an incident in which he is accused of punching his sleeping, pregnant girlfriend.
According to Geneva police reports, Clint Bernardo is charged with domestic battery bodily harm to a family member and insulting/provoking contact on Oct. 22 at a residence in the 900 block of Manchester Course.
The complaint initially was filed at 12:58 a.m. Oct. 25 by the mother of the victim, reports said.
According to the synopsis, the victim, who was 31 weeks pregnant, was asleep when her boyfriend punched her in the back. When she turned around, she saw Bernardo, “who then slapped her on the stomach,” reports said.
The victim told police that Bernardo has a "long history of going into rages," but she did not report the most-recent incident because she felt “embarrassed” about it.
