Batavia Man Faces Aggravated DUI Charges After Arrest in Geneva

The following information was supplied by the Geneva and Batavia police departments. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Aggravated DUI Charges Leveled at Alleged Repeat Offender


Geneva police arrested Martin Ruelas, 28, of Batavia on charges of aggravated driving under the influence with a revoked or suspended license, DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage around 11:26 p.m. July 27 in the 0-99 block of South Bennett Street, reports said.

According to the synopsis sheet, the the officer say a vehicle making a wide turn from East State Street onto South Bennett Street (Route 25) between two northbound lanes, narrowly missing two vehicles. A search of the driver’s pants pockets revealed a 200-milliliter bottle of Seagram’s whiskey.
After a driver’s license check, the officer was informed that Ruelas’ license had been previously revoked for a prior DUI charge. An assistant state’s attorney approved the charges for aggravated DUI.

North Aurora Man Charged in Batavia

Batavia police arrested George Foster, 59, of North Aurora on charges of diving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic control device, improper turn at an intersection around 8:47 a.m. July 27, reports said. He has a court date of Aug. 14.

St. Charles Man's Arrest Includes 3 Counts of Illegal Lane Usage

Batavia police arrested Andrew Fliss, 26, of St. Charles on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol DUI with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or more, three counts of improper lane usage and improper signaling around 1:17 a.m. July 25 in the 900 block of North Batavia Avenue, reports said. He has a court date of Aug. 28.

DUI Arrest Made But Report Incomplete

Someone was arrested by Batavia police on charges of driving under the influence at 5:55 p.m. July 23 at Van Nortwick and Wilson Street. The report was incomplete and does not name the person or persons charged.
