Aurora Man Arrested for Reportedly Throwing Punch at St. Charles Bar Manager

The following information was supplied by the St. Charles Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Robert Michael Kavanaugh, 26, of the 500 block of South Lincoln, Aurora, was charged with battery at 9:40 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at Alley 64, 212 W. Main St.

Police were called to the establishment after a report of a disturbance in which the bouncers had detained someone in the parking lot. Officers arrived to find two bouncers holding Kavanaugh on the ground near the rear entrance of Alley 64. The bouncers told police Kavanaugh had punched an employee after he refused to leave after he was asked to do so.

The report states that after Kavanaugh threw the punch at a manager, the bouncers broke up the fight and escorted Kavanaugh out, but they told police he fought back as they did so, so they detained him in the parking lot and awaited police.

The manager told officers Kavanaugh had been asked several times to leave because he was being very rude and obnoxious near other patrons and “being weird around ladies” in the patio area.

At the St. Charles Police Department, 211 N. Riverside Drive, the report states, Kavanaugh admitted to one officer that he punched the manager but told another officer he took a swing but missed him.

Kavanaugh was released with a notice to appear in court on June 20, 2013. The report also states he has been banned from Alley 64.
