Accident Reports: Remember to Check Your Brakes and Reduce Speed to Avoid What Happened to These Folks

The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Bad breaks or bad brakes? There is damage and injury in part two of the accident reports from this week's Geneva police blotter.

Accident on West State Street—The front of a Toyota Camry driven by Kurt Baldwin, 35, of St. Charles collided with the rear of a Jeep Liberty driven by Erwin Kowalewski of Corland around 3:25 p.m. Sept. 19 in the 600 block of West State Street near South Sixth Street, reports said. Baldwin’s Camry was westbound on West State while Kowalewski’s Liberty was stopped in the westbound lane waiting for the signal to change at the intersection of West State and Seventh streets. Baldwin told police he had difficulties with his brakes and the Camry collided with the rear of the Liberty. Kowalewski reported back pain from the accident but refused medical treatment. Baldwin was issued a warning ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Accident on North Street—The rear passenger side of a Chrysler Cruiser driven by Jane Saenz, 74, of Aurora collided with the front driver’s side of a Buick Lucerne driven by Daniel Gambino, 43, of Geneva around 12:20 p.m. Sept. 17 in the 800 block of North Street near Richards Street, reports said. Between $501 and $,1500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident on Stevens Street—The passenger side of a Ford Expedition driven by James Gender, 51, of Geneva collided with the driver’s side of a Kia Soul driven by Jody Hallahan, 59, of Geneva around 8:30 am. Sept. 16 in the 300 block of Stevens Street near North Fourth Street, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident on Kaneville Road—The front of a Nissan Rogue driven by Linda Goergen, 53, of Geneva collided with the rear of a Toyota Camry driven by Mukharshar Enhtsetseg, 32, of Arlington, VA, around 9:45 p.m. Sept. 17 at the intersection of Kaneville Road and Country Club Place, reports said. Less than $500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Georgen was issued a warning ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
