Accident Reports: Multi-Car Crashes, Tire Blowout, Teen Ticketed for Having Too Many Youths in the Car

Police Reports: The first of two accident roundups includes a variety of interesting collisions in Geneva.

Sometimes the accident reports pile up faster than a multi-vehicle accident. In a two-part series, Geneva Patch catches up with the events collected in July from the Geneva police blotter.

Two interesting items in the bunch include the first ticket I've seen to a teen driver who had more than one person under 18 in the car and a single-car accident in which a blown tire is blamed.

Truck Hits Awning—A GMC truck driven by Michael Dixon, 42, of Geneva hit the awning of Duke & Lee’s, 609 Batavia Ave., around 4:32 p.m. June 26, reports said. Between $501 and $1,500 damage ws done. Dixon was issued a warning ticket for driving a vehicle without a special classification.

Accident on Aberdeen Court—The rear of a Chrysler Pacifica driven by Linda Cunningham, 48, of Geneva collided with the driver’s side of a Ford F-150 driven by Marcus Postawa, 36, of Maple Park around 5:50 p.m. June 25 in the 100 block of Aberdeen Court about 100 feet sout of Hill Road, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident on West State Street—The rear of a Lincoln Towncar driven by Annette Volke, 77, of Geneva collided with the front of a Ford Explorer driven by Jerome Jendro, 60, of Elburn around 5:10 p.m. June 25 in the 300 block of West State Street about 50 feet west of Third Street, reports said. Volke was issued a warning ticket for improper backing. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident at First and James streets—The front of an Oldsmobile Aurora driven by Kenneth Hill, 72, of Schaumburg collided with the front o a Hyundai Genesis driven by Craig Morgenroth, 58, of St. Charles around 12:30 p.m. June 24 at the intersection of First and James streets, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle, and a tow was required.

Accident at East State and Simpson Street—The rear passenger’s side of a Ford Focus driven by Kelly Kanarowski, 21, of Geneva collided with the front of a Toyota RAV4 driven by Lauretta Lickets, 48, of Geneva around 4:53 p.m. June 23 at the intersection of East State and Simpson streets, reports said. Kanarowski was issued a warning ticket for driving in the wrong lane. Between $501 and $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident With Injuries on Peck Road—The front of an olsdsmobile Intrigue driven by Hannah Franklyn, 20, of Yorkville collided with the rear of a Lexus RX350 driven by Dustin Peck, 30, of Lake Forest around 5:009 p.m. June 23 in the 3400 block of Peck Road about 50 feet north of Kaneville Road, reports said. One of the passengers in the Lexus received treatment from emergency services. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident on South Randall Road—The rear of a Jeep Cherokee driven by Kathryn Carley, 16, of Geneva collided with the rear of a Pontiac Grand Am driven by Patricia Gubbins, 67, of Geneva around 1:45 p.m. June 2 in the 1500 block of South Randall Road about a tenth of a mile west of Christina Lane, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident on Oakwood Drive—The rear of a Toyota Corolla driven by David Reich, 43, of Geneva collided with the front of a Toyota Prius driven by Debra Swanson, 51, of Batavia around 9:45 a.m. in the 600 block of Oakwood Drive about 100 feet west of School Street, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

3-Car Accident on Peck Road—The front of a Chevrolet Suburban driven by Henry Funk, 84, of Sugar Grove collided with the rear of a Volkswagen Jetta driven by Jamie Bonnell, 30, of Leland, which collided with the rear of a Toyota Prius driven by Mary Parkhurst of Yorkville around 12:08 p.m. June 21 in the 700 block of Peck Road about 15 feet north of Kaneville Road, reports said. Funk was cited for driving without a license or permit. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident on Ford Street—A Freightliner Tractor Trailer driven by Federico Saldana, 58, of Laredo, TX, collided with the driver’s side of a Nissan Xterra driven by Robert Hillery, 51, of Geneva around 12:30 p.m. June 19, in the 800 block of Ford Street about 30 feet west of Richards Street, reports said.  Saldana was issued a warning ticket for improper backing and cited for violation of the 6-ton load limit. More than $1,500 damage was done to the Nissan.

Ticket for Teen Driving With More Than One Passenger Under 18—The front of a Nissan Pathfinder driven by Dylan Sathchakham, 16, of South Elgin collided with the rear of an Acura MDX driven by Jacqueline McCullough, 45, of Geneva around 3:20 p.m. June 18 in the 300 block of South Randall Road about 500 feet north of Keslinger Road, reports said. Satchakham was issued a warning ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and was ticketed for having more than one passenger in the car of a driver under the age of 18.

Accident on Private Property on Randall Road—The rear of a Toyota Solara driven by Michelle Johnson, 45, of Sandwich collided with the rear of a Toyota Scion driven by Kelly Kalinka, 42, of Geneva around 11:54 a.m. June 17 on private property in the 1800 block of South Randall Road, about 35 feet south of Gleneagle Drive, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Tire Blow-Out Results in One-Car Crash— A Nissan Sentra driven by Jacob Tripoli, 21, of Geneva sustained between $501 and $1,500 damage after the front tire blew out driving through the alley to the rear of Geneva Commons, reports said. According to reports, Tripoli was driving south through the alley when his left front tire blew out as he was approaching Williamsburg Avenue. Tripoli was unable to stop at the stop sign or turn, so the Sentra went through the intersection and into the ditch on the south side of Williamsburg Avenue, reports said. Tripoli told police the right front tire also sustained damage when it hit the curb. Tripoli was issued a warning for failing to yield emerging from a private road or alley.

Accident on Private Property on South Second Street—The rear of a Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Roy Cornelius, 35, of Yorkville collided with the front of a Lexus RX450 driven by Robert Mansfield, 43, of Geneva around 3 p.m. June 16 on private property in the 200 block of South Second Street, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident on Fabyan Parkway—The front of a Ford Taurus driven by Joel Skinner, 47, of Sandwich collided with the rear of a Jeep Cherokee driven by Dale Goodrich, 53, of Geneva around 8 a.m. June 13 in the 1400 block of Fabyan Parkway about 110 feet west of South Kirk Road, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Skinner was issued a warning ticket for following too closely.

Accident on East State Street and Kirk Road—The front of a Nissan Altima driven by Arvino Hirpara, 59, of Hanover Park collided with the rear of a Toyota Sienna driven by Tim Juenke, 54, of Geneva around 6:50 a.m. June 12 at the intersection of East State Street and Kirk Road, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.
