Accident Reports: Driver Charged After Safari Hits School Bus

GENEVA
Safari Collides With School Bus
A GMC Safari collided with a school bus around 8:18 a.m. Dec. 6, Geneva police reports said. The rear passenger side of the GMC Safari driven by Eldred Schrofer, 67, of Batavia struck the front driver’s side of the 38-foot school bus driven by Richard Schroeder, 43, of Aurora at the intersection of East Fabyan Parkway and North Raddant Road. Shrofer told police he was talking on the telephone and did not realize he had a red light when he pulled the Safari in front of the school bus. Schrofer was charged with disobeying a traffic control device. Neither driver was hurt. The report did not indicate whether any children were on the bus at the time of the accident.

BATAVIA
One Hospitalized After Fabyan Crash
One person was taken to the hospital after a crash around 6:29 p.m. Dec. 9 at the intersection of West Fabyan Parkway and North Batavia Avenue, reports said. The front of a Honda Accord driven by Steven Karas, 21, of St. Charles collided with the front of a Ford Edge driven by Debra Mast, 55, of Sugar Grove, reports said. Mast was taken to Delnor Hospital by Batavia medics, and Karas was treated and released at the scene. Karas was charged with failure to yield turning left and has a court date of Jan. 14.

BATAVIA
1 Transported to Delnor After Crash
One person was transported to Delnor Hospital after an accident at 3:25 p.m. Dec. 4 at the intersection of South Batavia Avenue and West Fabyan Parkway, report said. The front of a GMC Sierra driven by Christopher Browning, 33, of Montgomery collided with the front of a Honda Ridgeline driven by Bridget Shaeffer, 31, of Aurora, reports said. Browning was cited for failure to yield and has a court date of Jan. 14. Shaeffer was transported to Delnor by Batavia Fire Department personnel.
