A Panoply of Christmastime Collisions

The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

With apologies, we haven't kept pace with the accident reports. Here's the balance of the collection, all from 2011. All either involve Geneva drivers or were accident with injuries, ticket or tow.

Accident on South Peck and Kaneville—The driver’s side of a Pontiac Vibe driven by Shannon Vigna, 30, of Geneva collided with a Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by David Basak, 45, of St. Charles, around 5:08 pm. Dec. 26 at the intersection of South Peck Road and Kaneville Road, reports said. Between $500 and $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Vigna was issued a warning ticket for driving too closely.

Accident on Commons Drive—The rear of a Jeep Cherokee driven by Jennifer Blatt, 19, of Batavia collided with the rear of a Land Rover LR2 driven by Christina Murray, 40, of Geneva around 12:58 p.m. Dec. 24 at Commons Drive near 600 North Randall Road, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident at Williamsburg Avenue and Fisher Drive—A Saab 95 driven by Samual Hudnall, 16, of Geneva collided with the rear of an Acura TL driven by Colin Tollefson, 45, of Geneva around 5 p.m. Dec. 23 at the intersection of Williamsburg Avenue and Fisher Drive, reports said. Less than $500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident at Kaneville Road and West State Street—The front of a Dodge Dakota driven by Jake Weede, 16, of Geneva collided with the rear of a Kia Forte driven by Ariel Quiggle, 22, of Geneva around 7:05 a.m. Dec. 24 in the 1100 block of Kaneville Road at the intersection with West State Street. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident at West State and First—The front of a Honda Accord driven by Sue Sinclair, 64, of Winfield collided with the front of a Buick Enclave driven by Troy Wehrle, 42, of Geneva around 7:26 p.m. Dec. 22 at the intersection of West State Street and First Street, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Sinclair was ticketed for disobeying a traffic control signal legend. She has a court date of Jan. 10, reports said.

Accident on South Randall Road (County Highway 34)—The front of a Chevrolet Venture driven by Aaron Volk, 17, of Geneva collided with the driver’s side of a Honda Civic driven by Laura Crawford, 45, of Geneva around 1:20 p.m. Dec. 22 in the 1400 block of South Randall Road near Fargo Boulevard, reports said. Between $500 and $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident on West State Street—The rear of a Isuzu Amigo driven by Gary Jamison, 65, of Geneva collided with the front of a Volvo S40 driven by Robin Strumreiter, 42, of Aurora around 5L06 p.m. Dec. 22 in the 800 block of West State Street near Anderson Boulevard, reports said. Between $501 an $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Jamison was issued a warning ticket for improper lane usage, reports said.

Accident with Tow at West State and Fifth—The front of a Lexus IS250 driven by Heather Shea, 43, of Williams Bay, WI, collided with the front of a Suzuki Verona driven by Mark Soderberg, 58, of St. Charles around 2:40 p.m. Dec. 22 at the intersection of West State Street and Fifth Street. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Shea was issued a warning ticket for failure to yield at a stop intersection.

Accident on Kaneville Drive—The rear of a Dodge Ram driven by David Mayo, 60, of St. Charles collided with the rear of a Honda Accord driven by Julie Leskun, 46, of Geneva around 8:15 a.m. Dec. 15 on private property in the 1800 block of Kaneville Road near Northampton Drive, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. 

Accident with Injuries on Bricher Road—The front of a Mitzubishi Galant drive by Todd Hegy, 55, of Batavia collided with the front of a Honda Pilot driven by Charlene Mende, 44, of West Chicago around 10:34 a.m. Dec. 15 in the 2300 block of Bricher Road near North Randall Road, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Hegy was taken to Delnor Hospital and received a ticket for driving on roadways laned for traffic. He has a court date of Jan. 17, reports said.

Accident on South Third Street—The rear of a Ford Escape driven by Alexandra Sinacore, 27, of Geneva collided with the front of a Cadillac SRX driven by David Dougherty, 60, of Aurora around 2 p.m. Dec. 16 in the 500 block of South Third Street, reports said Between $501 and $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident on West State Street—The front of a Toyota Matrix driven by Betty Keeler, 75, of Geneva collided with the passenger’s side of a Chevrolet Silvarado driven by Gerald Klemm, 57, of Geneva around 11:30 a/,/ Dec. 17 in the 700 block of West State Street near Richards Street, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Keeler was issued a warning ticket for improper lane usage.

Accident in Geneva Commons Parking Lot—The rear of a Hyundai Elantra diven by Bethany Borchert, 19, of Macomb collided with a Nissan Quest driven by Kelly Healy, 49, of Geneva around 3:15 p.m. Dec. 17 in the Geneva Commons Parking lot, 500 North Randall Road, reports said. Between $501 and $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident on South Randall Road—The front of a Buick Century driven by Jeffrey Martens, 21, of Geneva collided with the rear of a Toyota Rav4 driven by Gerould Ostergard, 42, of Geneva around 12:58 p.m. Dec. 18 in the 300 block of South Randall Road, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Martens was issued a warning notice for following too closely.

Accident in the Geneva Commons Parking Lot—The rear of a Honda Accord driven by Katelyn Smarsty, 24, of Geneva collided with the passenger’s side of a Mazda MX5 driven by Ruth Anderson, 79, of Geneva in the Geneva Commons parking area, 300 N. Randall Road, reports said. Between $501 and $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.
