4 Purses Stolen in 35 Minutes From Cars in Downtown Batavia

The following arrest information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Ladies, please note: Batavia's west side is not a safe place for your purses.

There were four motor vehicle burglaries reported in a span of about 35 minutes on Saturday, and all of them took place on Main Street.

Three of the incidents took place at the Engstrom Park parking lot at 1314 Main St. The other incident took place right across the street, in one of the Batavia High School parking lots at 1201 Main St.

Each incident involved a purse being taken from a car. An unknown offender or offenders smashed a window to get into each car. No actual projectiles were found at the scene.
