2 Separate Cases of Flowering Plants Stolen

Flora Theft—What's the world coming to, when you can't put flowers outside without them being lifted?

Spring, and a young thief's fancy turns to thoughts of flowers.

Apparently, no flowering plant is safe in sleepy, enchanting Geneva, IL. In two separate police reports, we see signs that people value flowers in this balmy springtime.

Theft Under $150—Someone took flowers and plants from a patio area of a residence in the 500 block of Linden Court sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. March 19, Geneva police reports said. The resident told police the plants had been planted in an urn adjacent to the patio on the south side of the building. She said at previous times someone has cut branches and removed smaller trees from the south end of the property, which is adjacent to the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and is the property of the homeowner’s association. The value was the plants was estimated at $73.

Theft Under $500—Someone took two potted plants from the front of Olon Industries, 411 Union St., sometime between 6 p.m. March 16 and 8:30 a.m. March 19, reports said. The Coleus flowers were in green pots and sitting outside the fornt of the office. An employee put the plants out "to get some fresh air," and when she came back to work, the flowers and pots were gone. The value of the pots and plants was estimated at $50.
