2 More Charged for Possession of Synthetic Marijuana at North Avenue Gas Station in West Chicago

The following information was supplied by the West Chicago Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Two additional arrest warrants were obtained Friday in relation to the alleged sale of synthetic marijuana at the Shell gas station at 184 W. North Ave., according to a press release from the city of West Chicago.

The arrests follow a search warrant conducted March 22 at the gas station, the culmination of several weeks of undercover purchases of synthetic cannabis. The Shell gas station was found to be in possession of synthetic drugs commonly sold under name brands such as K2, Spice, Wild Greens, Pink Panther, Hindu Magic and Kush.

Gopesh R. Patel, 53, of the 300 block of Tuttle Dr., Bloomingdale, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, a Class X felony punishable by six to 30 years in jail. His bond was set at $200,000. He turned himself in to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office on April 2.

Rajinder K. Shoor, 42, of the 1200 block of Narragansett Drive, Carol Stream, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, a Class X felony, punishable by six to 30 years in jail. His bond was set at $200,000. He turned himself in to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office on April 3.

The Shell gas station located 184 W. North Ave. was one of two stations that were searched March 22 by police. The other was the Shell at 1307 S. Neltnor Boulevard in West Chicago.

Previoiusly arrested at the 184 W. North Ave. address was Jagidishkumar R. Patel, 53, of the 600 block of Forum Drive, Roselle. Arrested at the Shell at 1307 S. Netlnor Boulevard were Joseph S. Nguyen, 33, of the 800 block of 15th Place, Chicago, and Sonni L. Nguyen, 38, of the 700 block of Hickory Lane, West Chicago. All three were charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, and were transported to the DuPage County Jail pending a bond hearing.

This investigation was brought to a successful conclusion by working in collaboration with the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the DuPage County State’s Attorney.
