2 Bicycles—With Locks—Stolen From Geneva Train Depot

Geneva police reports: Two bicycles locked and left at the train station are stolen at about the same time period.

Bicycles left for long periods at the train station and in danger of getting stolen—even if they're secured with a lock.

Two Geneva police reports showed bicycles were taken on or about Aug. 28. In both cases, the victims were commuters, the bicycle locks were also taken, and the bikes were left unattended for long periods of time.

Theft Under $500—Someone took a red and black men’s Hard Rock Sport bicycle with lock from outside the Geneva train depot, sometime between 5:20 p.m. Aug. 27 and 7:30 a.m. Aug. 29, Geneva police reports said. Reports said the owner generally rides the train to Geneva, then rides his bicycle from the train depot to his place of work, Altech Environmental on Kaneville Road. The bicycle was valued at $400. 

Theft Over $500—Someone took a Trek brand mountain bicycle and accessories from the Geneva train depot sometime between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Aug. 28, Geneva police reports said. According to reports, the owner arrived at the depot and secured the bicycle with a lock just outside the commuter train structure on the south side of the tracks. When he returned at 5 p.m., the bicycle was missing. The bicycle was valued at $865.
