$2,000 Cost to Replace Copper Piping Taken From Batavia Enterprises

Scrap-metal theft continues to be a frequently-seen the Geneva area and across the country.

The is getting to be a bigger business as the economy continues to struggle.

Last year at about this time, scrap metal theft and seemed to have , although there aren't enough cases to point to a specific local, seasonal pattern.

The latest is copper piping from air-conditioning units belonging to a well-known business that owns property throughout the Tri-Cities.

Here's the police report:

Theft Over $500—Someone took copper piping from two air-conditioning  units located on the north side of , Inc., 140 First St., Geneva, sometime between 5 p.m. May 1 and 8 a.m. May 2, reports said. The cost of replacing the copper piping was estimated at $2,000.
