$1,000 in Tools Taken From Van Parked at Home Depot
Vehicle-burglary roundup: Tools and a Tom Tom were taken this week.
When you go shopping at Home Depot this time of year, you're more likely to be coming home with more tools than you left with. That wasn't the case for one victim, whose van apparently was broken into while he was shopping. That was one of two vehicle burglaries in Geneva police reports this week.
Tools Taken at Home Depot Parking Lot
Someone took a tool box containing several hand tools from a van parked in the parking lot of Home Depot, 2111 S. Randall Road, sometime between noon and 1 p.m. Nov. 22, reports said. According to the report, the tool box was in the van parked near the garden center entrance, and the van was locked, according to its owner. The victim told police that when he drove to his residence, he noticed that the rear, passenger-side door lock had been “punched,” then looked inside the van and noticed the tool box and tools were missing. A wool jacket also was taken. The total value of the items taken was estimated at $1,075.
Tom Tom GPS Taken From Impala
Someone illegally entered a Chevrolet Impala parked in a parking lot in the 1200 block of Koster Court sometime between Nov. 6 and 2 p.m. Nov. 14 and took a Tom Tom GPS, some coins and miscellaneous papers from the glove compartment. The total loss was estimated at $155.
