February 6th: This Day in History

What a variety of historical events we have for you today!  From a famous slugger, a one-of-a-kind tee time and we'll end with a sweet treat.

Born on this date in 1895, "the Bambino", "the Sultan of Swat", George Herman "Babe" Ruth Jr. was born in Baltimore, Maryland.  With a .342 career batting average and over 700 home runs, no one doubts the legacy of this famous ballplayer.

On February 6th, 1971 perhaps the most legendary game of golf was played.  It was better than any game yet played on earth.  The reason...on this date 43 years ago astronaut Alan Shepard was the first human to tee it off on the moon.  As part of the Apollo 14 mission with Ed Mitchell, he spent 33 hours on the lunar surface.  He was the 5th man to walk on the moon, and 1st to play golf.  He even brought along a specially designed golf club just for this purpose.
