Pierog's Business, School Board Experience Makes Her Best Candidate for 25th Senate District

Letter to the Editor: Democrat Corinne Pierog, who faces off against Jim Oberweis in the Nov. 6 General Election for 25th State Senate District, "is a local businesswoman who wants to work to fix the problems in Springfield."

Dear Editor:

I am writing to encourage people in the Illinois Senate District 25 to vote for Corinne Pierog. Corinne is a resident of St. Charles and on the St. Charles School Board. She also is a local businesswoman—she is the founder and president of Sustainable Leadership Solutions, a consulting company that advises nonprofits and government agencies on fundraising, management, economic development and executive transitioning.

As a school board member, Corinne of course is an advocate for our schools, but as a businesswoman, she also knows what it’s like to start up a business. She understands the problems facing our economy. That’s why her main reason for running is to put people back to work. Some of her solutions include providing tax incentives for small businesses, not just large corporations, and providing help to schools, colleges and training facilities so they can better educate our residents for existing jobs and those of the future. She wants to bring manufacturing plants back to Illinois and encourage research and development institutions to locate here.

Corinne is not a “politician.” She is a local businesswoman who wants to work to fix the problems in Springfield. She cares. That’s why I am giving her my vote.

I guess since she is a local business person that that's the criteria of Chuck's vote, Jim Oberweis would be the better choice for his vote. If Chuck was going on criteria and not a party.

As a Democrat, Pierog will fall under the 'rule' of Mike Madigan and will be forced to tow the party line. Therefore, any agenda she might profess to having will be forgotten the minute she's sworn in. For that reason alone, the need to release Illinois from the control of Madigan and the Democratic machine, we need to elect Oberweis to the state Senate.

At what point in time do the people of Illinois realize that Illinois is the prototypical Democrat controlled and run government and state but continue to vote for more of the same? Derrick Smith will be reelected while under indictment. Jesse Jackson Jr. hasn't worked since June and has other "legal" issues on his horizon will win in a landslide. Team Madigan and their puppets need to go.

She may be the most wonderful woman in the world and she may have lofty goals and ideals but she is a Democrat, and I am not voting to send another Democrat to Springfield. Madigan and the Democrats have had a stranglehold on state government for the better part of thirty years and look at the mess that they have gotten Illinois into. How can we expect the party which has put the state on the doorstep of bankruptcy to straighten out the mess that they have created?
