Community Corner

Kane County Neighborhood Watch Program

I attempted to attend the meeting tonight and waited in the enclosed lobby to be let into the Kane County Sheriff's Office and meeting room. Another volunteer and I utilized the intercom to be let in and then proceeded to wait over a half hour and no one came to let us in. We tried the intercom two more times and a very rude officer let us know they "would get to us when they get to us."  We let the officer know we were volunteers for the neighborhood watch program and were not there to see an inmate. He responded with "so."  We were flabbergasted. We just then promptly left. We have been volunteering for the Mill Creek neighborhood watch program. No pay, our time and looking out for our community. Officer Kevin Williams runs this program and is now running for Kane County Sheriff. I hope this is not indicative how things would be run if he becomes Sheriff. We are volunteers.  Thanks a lot Kane County. If the Sheriff's office is not good for meetings due to the inability to let people in, then why not have them at the judicial building just a few feet away?  Very disappointing. You cannot even volunteer in Kane County without a lot of extra effort.  Seriously, it should not be this difficult.
