Tri-Cities Death Notices: Veterans, Animal Lovers, a Printer and a Deacon

Brief stories and links to the obituaries of Geneva, Batavia and St. Charles folks who passed away, for the week prior to July 16. 2013.

  • Wilbur R. “Wil” Christman, 68, of Warrenville was a graduate of Proviso East High School who served his country in the Army and as a Vietnam War vet. He worked for various companies in the printing industry. Wil and his wife, Linda, celebrated 46 years of marriage on July 1.

  • Marshall E. “Bowser” Defrank of St. Charles, formerly of Chicago Heights and Park Forest served in the Marines. Before his retirement he was employed by Apple Chevrolet in Tinley Park for many years. A celebration of his life will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at Aliano’s restaurant 90 N Island Ave Batavia.
  • W. Jaquith “Jake” Elseworth, 66, lost his battle with cancer on July 13, 2013, at home surrounded by family and friends. He was a St. Charles for 64 years and served in the Army in Vietnam. He retired from Columbia Pipe Company, but still remained a very active member and Deacon of the Church of God of Prophecy in St. Charles.
  • Valerie J. Cleveland, 52, of St. Charles, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.

  • Sandy Wise is survived by her loving husband Fred, daughter Jeanette, furry companion PW (pee wee), sister Alice, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to any of Sandy’s favorite charities including; Smile Train, PO Box 96231, Washington, D.C. 20090, Anderson Animal Shelter, 1000 S. La Fox Rd, South Elgin, IL 60177, or The Salvation Army, 1710 S 7th Avenue, St. Charles, IL 60174.

  • Nathan K. Hagen, 25, of St. Charles, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born Nov. 4, 1987 in St. Charles, the son of Kevin and Sandy (nee Carlgren) Hagen. Nathan is survived by his parents, Kevin and Sandy Hagen of St. Charles; a sister, Meredith Hagen of Lakewood, CO; paternal grandparents Ross (Jackie) Hagen of Iowa City, IA; and his maternal grandmother, Patricia Carlgren of Mediapolis, IA.
