Tri-Cities Death Notices Include Many With Long Lives and Some Who Died Far Too Soon

Here are brief remembrances and links to funeral arrangements for loved ones from Geneva, St. Charles and Batavia.

Malone Funeral Home

  • Celest “Les” J. Spriet, 68, was a lifelong St. Charles resident who enjoyed the outdoors and worked for a time in Wisconsin at a fishing store. He also worked part time for various farmers and horse stables in the St. Charles area. In recent years he maintained a small lawn mowing service in Kane County.
  • Mark W. Smith, 57, of Geneva was a 1974 graduate of Geneva High School, a die-hard Iowa Hawkeyes fan and was retired from a career in marketing. He was a runner and enjoyed being active. He was also a great musician and loved playing his guitar. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
  • William R. “Bill” Laudando, Sr., 77 of Nowthen, MN, formerly of Kingston, Batavia and Villa Park, served his country in the U.S. Navy and built his electrical business TECAM Inc. of Villa Park and Batavia.

 

Yurs Funeral Home 

  • Bernadette Sluzewicz, 82, of St. Charles, was the beloved wife of Edward for 52 years, cherished daughter of Charles and Magdalen Jancauskas, loving sister of Magdalen Litwin(Victor), Charles Jank (Patricia), Francine Gulbinas (Joseph) and adored aunt to many.
  • Adam Blake Kapfhamer, 48, of St. Charles, was an enlisted Security Police Officer in the United States Air Force, as well as an Elk Grove Village Police Officer abd an avid Chicago sports fan, but any team that his children played for were his favorites.
  • Janet S. Nyquist 98, was a renowned weaver and spinner who excelled at cooking, sewing and entertaining. She was foremost a teacher to all who sincerely wanted to learn her crafts.
  • Walter L. Zim, 94, was proud to be a veteran and served in the Army during WWII.

 

Moss Funeral Home

  • Marian Lundeen, 88, of St. Charles was a member of the Batavia Vasa Lodge #349. She is survived by her husband Bill, two children Rich Stone of Plano, IL, and Sandy (Jeff) Spang of Millbrook.
  • Lawrence Joseph Bay, 81, of North Aurora served in the United States Army and was retired from the Bellwood Fire Department following 33 years of service.
  • Mason R. Little, 20 months, was the son of Haleigh Hunger of St. Charles and Herman Little of St. Charles. He is survived by one sister Madysen Gail Howieson at home.
  • Max P. Shramovich, 91, of Lisle passed away May 14, 2013 at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
