Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles lost some wonderful people in the past few weeks. Here is a brief description along with links to their stories and funeral arrangements.

  • Frank Bruno, ComEd equipment operator, musician and father of Geneva aldermanic candidate Mike Bruno
  • Adella Granquist, 86, longtime employee First National Bank in Geneva, music teacher and wife of the late Herb Granquist, who started the Granquist Music Competition.

  • Sarah L Passafiume, 93, survived by Dale and Donna Myers.
  • Darrell D. Geske Sr., 80, lovingly nicknamed "shorty," longtime resident of St. Charles
  • Raymond A Kaligian III, 28, of Houston, TX, and graduate of Geneva High School who died tragically and far too soon after an accident in his home.
  • June V Ruehmer, 96, of Aurora, grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 16.
  • James R Zillges, 48, of Rochelle, formerly of St. Charles, Green Bay Packers fan survived by five children.

  • LaVerne A. Krajcovic, 87, survived by three children.
  • Gene Paul VanWyhe, 78, of St. Charles, proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
  • Joseph Waszak, 81, of North Aurora and formerly of North Lake, served in U.S. Marine Corps during Korean War.
  • Bennie C. Castiello, 80, of Batavia, a beloved teacher.
  • Charles J. Siegler, 83, former teacher and longtime superintendant for the Kane County Forest Preserve. Siegler Lake in Big Rock Forest Preserve is named after him.
  • Margaret Anna Munoz, 75, of Anna, married to Jose Munoz for 28 years.
  • Charles J. Gould, 87, a lifetime Batavian and until 1982, operated the family dairy farm west of town, raising Holsteins and Ayrshire dairy cattle. Batavia High School class of 1943 alum held records in track and field.
  • Jackson Northrup Root, 77, of the Holmstad Retirement Community in Batavia and formerly of Woodstock and Crystal Lake, was a member of the University of Illinois marching and concert bands, playing bassoon and clarinet.
