  • Richard A. Tredup, 80, of Geneva, graduated from St. Charles High School in 1951 and later served as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division’s 503rd infantry Regiment stationed in Germany. He worked for his two brothers at Tredup’s Body Shop in South Elgin, but his main interest was being a Mr. Fix-it. He researched the places where his grandparents were born in Sweden and Germany with the help of his sister, which then led to the creation of a family history album, all to be treasured by the family.
  • James L. Coleman, Sr., 97, of St. Charles was co-founder of Coleman Land Company in St. Charles, a past president of the Kane County Board of Realtors and a MAI Member of the Appraisal Institute. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lundeen Coleman of St. Charles, three sons, James L. • Waneta Nord, 97, of St. Charles, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 at her home. At the age of 18, she moved from Southern Illinois to Chicago where she became a cosmetologist. He was a self-taught, successful businessman who pursued a lifelong passion exploring the power of mind over matter and aligning one’s heart, mind and soul. He avidly studied NLP, as well reading many books by Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill, Tony Robbins, Milton Erickson and others. He was a devoted friend of Bill Wilson for the past 30 years. Jim helped countless people by selflessly sharing his experience, strength and hope with those who struggled yet wanted to grow along spiritual lines. • Amos Smith Jr., 61, of Batavia, retired from Caterpillar after 30 years of service and was a very proud member of Local 145. Amos was happiest when he was fishing “in the hole” on the Fox River with all of his grandchildren. He spent most of his time baiting their hooks, but the look on their faces when they caught a fish made it all worth it. PaPa gave them many great memories. Amos loved to cook. Summers were spent eating his excellent barbecued ribs covered with his special sauce. Holiday dinners were never complete without his fried turkeys cooked to perfection. He will be greatly missed.
  • Loretta E. Morgan, 95, of St. Charles the past year and formerly of Geneva for 12 years and Chicago most of her life, died Nov. 18, 2013. She is the beloved wife of the late Earl Morgan; loving mother of Lourdes (Joseph) Waranoski, the late Patricia Haney and Earl (Judith) Morgan; adored grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of 16.
