Death Notices Include Former North Aurora Village Trustee, School Principal and Store Owner

  • Bonnie J. Lee, 61, of Geneva had an incredible knack for making things beautiful. She was an amazing cook and had an effortless flair for gardening and flower arranging. She was the owner and main designer of Glenrose store in Batavia. For many years, Bonnie was self employed as a personal assistant and household manager.

  • Catherine Hale Harrington, 82, of St. Charles, formerly of Elgin, died Sunday, June 9, surrounded by her family. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2900 E. Main Street, St. Charles.
  • Daniel Vaca's visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main Street, St. Charles. Memorial contributions may be made to his son's Education Fund.
  • Roger Eugene Dorrance's burial was private.
  • Richard M. Perry, 66, served the Burlington-Central community for more than 40 years as a teacher, principal, volunteer and board member. He was a mentor, advocate, inspiration and loyal friend to all he met. At the time of his retirement, he described one of his core values: “Kids can challenge you and think they aren’t salvageable, but regardless of how adverse a kid’s life has been, you can see there’s hope, there’s aspirations, pride, and a desire to do good.”

  • Kenneth C. Holle, 62, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at his residence in Batavia. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathryn of Batavia; his two children, David (Laura) Holle of Oswego and Annette Emery of Las Vegas, NV; step-daughter, Kristin Huml of Chicago; and many others.
  • Brandon Tyler Hampel, 30, of Elburn, died Sunday, June 2, 2013. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Cheyenne and Madison Hampel and many others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the family for a memorial to be set up for his daughter’s education.
  • Max Charles Herwig, 67, of North Aurora died suddenly Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was united in marriage to Jacqueline Fohn on June 25, 1966, in Aurora, and together they raised a loving family, making their children and grandchildren their top priority. He served as a North Aurora village trustee for more than 10 years, as well as interim mayor. He enjoyed his career as a mechanical engineer starting out at Western Electric and continuing through Bell Labs and AT&T until his retirement in 1999.  After retiring, he went to work as an account manager with IBM at Lucent Technology until 2003. Max had a genuine gift and passion for helping others and volunteered for numerous organizations all over Kane County.
