I get no-chip manis on a regular basis and when I saw this nail studio I went in to check it out and get the price list. The owner, Marianne, told me they can do CND Shellac or Gelish. I love the Gelish product so I was happy to hear that. The card I got states $22 for a no-chip Shellac manicure. I thought that was an awesome price so I made an appt. When I got there and started talking about Gelish both the technician who was going to do my nails, Mehgan (also Marianne's cousin), and the owner, Marianne, were kinda trying to dissuade me from it encouraging me to use the CND stating how great it is and they've never, ever had problems with it. But I was telling them I've tried CND Shellac in the past and it always chips off in 7 or less days and just doesn't seem as robust on me as the Gelish does. I had picked out the Gelish colors I wanted and then I made a quick last-second decision to trust them and try the Shellac again. Maybe the other times I had it and it went bad were attributed to the application technique and not the product. BAD DECISION! My nails chipped after only 4 days! And by 7 days all but 3 nails are bare! Then to top it all off, when I was sitting and getting my manicure (I also got a no-chip pedicure with Shellac but it's fine on my toes), I see a price list up on the wall stating no-chip gel/Shellac removal is $5! WAIT A MINUTE-THE PRICE CARD I WAS GIVEN BEFORE I MADE MY APPT. SAID NOTHING ABOUT REMOVAL CHARGES! So now the $22 amazing price wasn't so amazing especially since my manicure only lasted 4 days. It's unfair and misleading to customers to lure them in with one price and then sock-it to 'em when it's time to pay. You need to disclose all your fees up-front so a consumer can make an informed decision. Each salon is different with regards to charging a separate fee for gel removal.
Needless to say I WON'T EVER be coming back and am totally disgusted I wasted so much money with Lacquered Up Nail Studio!
