This performance will be presented on Saturday, December 7, at 6 P.M. at the Batavia Fine Arts Centre, Wilson Street and Western Ave. in Batavia. The local community and the entire area are invited to participate in singing the choral sections of the Christmas portion of this famous work. For the first time, this year’s Messiah will have a 20 piece Baroque orchestra from Fox Valley Orchestra and a 32 voice choir from the Fox Valley Chorus in addition to four excellent soloists, Meredith Du Bon, soprano; Bridgid Buckley, alto; Daniel Shirley, tenor; and Dan Richardson, baritone/bass. The chorus, orchestra, singers, and YOU the audience will be under the direction of Dr. Colin Holman.
Those who wish to listen and not sing along are welcome! They can come, listen, and enjoy the beauty of a multitude of voices and the great melodic sounds in Batavia’s state-of-the-art theatre.
Those who wish to sing should plan for a wonderful evening of blending their voices with the Fox Valley Chorus, the Baroque orchestra, and all of the audience as we sing these familiar songs!
The Batavia Fine Arts Centre is acoustically tuned for superior sound, making it the perfect venue for the performance of a composition of such great magnitude, including Handel’s most famous work, The Hallelujah Chorus.
This is a very important fundraiser for the students and their programs that we at STAGE support, and freewill donations will be accepted at the door; with a suggested donation of $10 per adult.
