Performing in 'Nutcracker' Makes Wish Come True for 12-Year-Old With Life-Threatening Illness

State Street Dance Studio, in Geneva, is honored to have a local Make-A-Wish Illinois recipient as part of the annual production of the holiday classic, The Nutcracker.

The Nutcracker, being presented by State Street Dance is in its 9th year and will take place at the brand new Batavia Fine Arts Centre in Batavia. State Street Dance welcomes 12-year old Ailine Solis of Elgin, IL, to become a part of the enchanting holiday magic that The Nutcracker brings, and Ailine is overjoyed with the opportunity to be a part of a classical full-length ballet production.

Ailine suffers from a life-threatening case of Osteogenisis Imperfecta, a genetic disorder that makes her bones very fragile. Make-A-Wish has been working with Ailine to determine what her heartfelt wish might be since very recently been referred to the organization.In the meantime, State Street Dance will provide Ailine with a very special opportunity that is sure to boost her spirits.

"We are thrilled to have Ailine as part of our holiday tradition at State Street Dance and make an appearance in our Party Scene in The Nutcracker. She is a very sweet girl and our dancers have made her feel very welcome. We even had a group of dancers make some specialized pointe shoes for Ailine to welcome her to the cast", said Ashlie Andersen, Operations Manager at State Street Dance.

Make-A-Wish Illinois grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich their lives with hope, strength, and joy.  Since being founded locally in 1985, the chapter has granted more then 11,000 wishes and continues its mission to “share the power of a wish” with special children across the state with help from dedicated volunteers and generous community members.
