" I goofed."
How many times have you heard an elected official admit that?
Well, I did, and I am writing to correct and error that was stated in previous posts on this site and in previous statements.
In earlier posts and statments I referenced that the City of Geneva's tax rate "declined from .73 to .53 during my tenure as Mayor." I was wrong. The truth is that the city's tax rate declined to .64 (the current 2012-2013 tax rate).
I accept full responsibility for the error and, as stated above, take this opportunity to prevent it from becoming a mistake by setting the record straight in this post and in all future statements.
I remain proud of having worked with three different City Council's to to provide city services and programs through responsible, reasonable and rational budgeting and look forward to doing so in the years to come.
I respectfully ask for your vote on April 9th and, together, advance the mission and vision of Geneva for the benefit of all who call Geneva home.
Now, back to our regularly scheduled campaign for Mayor...
My best, Kevin R. Burns
