Burns 2012: Newspapers Endorse Us For Chairman

We are very pleased to announce the endorsements of our candidacy for Kane County Board chairman by two major area news papers: the Kane County Chronicle and the Daily Herald.

It is an honor to be endorsed by these two respected media outlets, and we appreciate their praise and support. The endorsements are available on their websites, and we have included excerpts  from both below.

From the Kane County Chronicle:

As Mayor of Geneva since 2001, Kevin Burns has gained experience leading a city with multiple departments and an annual budget of approximately $70 million. Burns, a resident of Geneva who has worked for years as an executive in the nonprofit industry, lists passing 11 balanced budgets and increasing city reserves among his accomplishments as mayor.

He said he would bring the same mindset to county government if he were elected chairman. We commend Burns’ track record and believe he has the experience it takes to lead Kane County government. We endorse him for the Republican nomination in the March 20 primary election. We fill Burns is best equipped to be the next chairman of the Kane County Board.

Fromthe Daily Herald:

The chairman’s job is executive in nature, a leadership position that must build consensus among 24 board members to find solutions while listening to more than half a million people. The chairman’s job description is similar to what Burns has been doing successfully in Geneva for 11 years.

When the recession hit, the city froze salaries, kept positions unfilled when people left, and gained some wage concessions. Mostly, it has run like a well-oiled machine with Burns in charge ... Burns remains the better candidate, and he is endorsed.
