Will Thunderstorms Ruin Fourth of July Celebrations?

The National Weather Service-Chicago says there's a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms on Independence Day in our area.

Will there be rain on the Fourth of July parade?

Will the sound of thunder drown out the explosions of fireworks? Will nature's pyrotechnics replace the man-made displays celebrating our nation's independence?

Inquiring minds want to know, and of course, there is no certain answer. Only forecasts and speculation. As of Tuesday, the chances are we'll get in those celebrations in Batavia, St. Charles and at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva.

The National Weather Service-Chicago says there's a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms for our neck of the woods come Thursday, July 4, 2013.
The day is supposed to be mostly sunny, with a high near 80 and a south southwest wind of 5 to 10 mph.

On Thursday night, you might want a jacket, as the low temperature sneaks down to 66 degrees. There's that 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m. to consider, as well.
