The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Sims Recycling Solutions, 1750 Harvester Road, West Chicago. The site will be one of seven involved in an attempt to break an official Guinness World Record for the most consumer electronics collected within 24 hours at multiple locations.

“The celebration of Earth Day is the perfect time to reflect on the actions each of us can take to safeguard the planet. These community electronics collection events make it easy for people to be good environmental stewards by simply dropping off broken or old devices. They can also be part of an exciting attempt to break a Guinness World Record,” Sims Recycling Solutions President Steve Skurnac said.

“While the goal of these one-day events is to collect a record-breaking number of electronic devices, the broader objective of this campaign is to raise awareness about the ongoing importance of properly recycling e-waste. By recycling end-of-life electronics, we all have the ability to contribute to a sustainable future and create a healthier world,” he said.

This e-waste collection event will be set up as a drive-through and drop-off event. Staff will be on hand to quickly collect items from community members’ vehicles. Please visit the Sims Recycling website for more information.
