Relay for Life Earns $200,000 for Cancer Research

Cancer survivors, relatives and friends gather at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark for an abbreviated Relay for Life.

With spirits un-dampened by early rains, hundreds of cancer survivors, relatives and friends walked laps around Fifth Third Bank Ball Park's field in Geneva  in the annual Relay for Life of the Tri-Cities on Friday, June 21.

The Relay for Life, which usually is an all-night affair, was limited to about three hours Friday, due to the rains and the condition of the field.

About $200,000 was raised for cancer research by 76 teams comprising 760 members. Events included a survivor dinner, opening and luminaria ceremonies and fireworks. Camping was canceled due to wet grounds. CDH Proton Center of Warrenville was sponsor.
