Link card redemption surges at Kane County and Illinois farmers’ markets in 2013

Farmers’ markets in Kane County municipalities that accept Link cards have experienced a significant increase in Link redemption over the past few seasons, benefiting Link users and farmers alike.

Four markets in Kane County municipalities accept Link cards, which are issued to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefit recipients: three in Aurora (Downtown, West, and East) and one in Elgin (Downtown Elgin Harvest Market). Through funding from the Fit for Kids Funders’ Consortium, these markets were able to purchase EBT devices, allowing vendors to accept Link cards, as well as credit cards.
