Falcons tie school volleyball record with 35th win of season

How 'bout them Falcons?

Faith Christian Academy equaled the school's single-season record for wins, earning its 35th victory of 2013 with a 25-8, 25-14 triumph over Immanuel Lutheran of East Dundee Wednesday night at FCA. The Falcons improved their season record to 35-6, tying the 2011 Falcons for most wins in a season in 19 years of FCA volleyball. Congratulations to the varsity and JV Falcons, both of which contributed to this record! The varsity is now 20-4, and the JV is 15-2.

Immanuel Lutheran was a formidable opponent, having won the St. John Lutheran Elgin Tournament we participated in at the end of September. But the Falcons overwhelmed the Eagles with accurate serving, going 24 for 26 in the first set, along with solid passing and three kills and three passes to setter from Gigi Crescenzo en route to a dominant win in set one.

FCA continued its great serving in the second set, going 22 for 23, and did a terrific job of passing to setter, digging spikes and serves, covering tips, hustling to keep balls alive and spiking from all sides of the court.

The Falcons also won a third extra set 25-19 thanks in large part to Lauren Caprini's 10-for-10 serving with an ace and seven service winners.

Lauren and Jessica Smith earned the hustle award, while Jess Chiaro and Ally Will shared the best attitude award.

Next up for FCA is the Lutheran Sports Association state tournament this weekend in Springfield. Way to shine, Falcons!
