Falcons fly past Einstein Academy 45-30 for ninth win of season
The Falcons were road warriors Wednesday afternoon. Faith Christian's varsity boys basketball squad bolted out to a 12-2 first-quarter lead and led by as many as 24 points en route to a 45-30 victory over Einstein Academy's varsity team in Elgin. Solid performance today, Falcons!
FCA improved its season record to 9-4 overall and 5-3 in varsity action behind an active defensive effort that forced 13 turnovers in the first three quarters and a mix of quick-striking fast breaks and an efficient halfcourt offense. Faith continued expanding its lead after the first quarter, opening up leads of 25-10 at halftime and 42-18 through three quarters.
Greg Betzelos paced Faith with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists and 1 turnover. Greg shared the hustle award with Chris Nosewicz, who grabbed a team-high 8 rebounds and played active defense. Ben Riner added 16 points, including 6 of 8 free throws, and shared the best attitude award with Charlie Heredia, who sank his first shot of the season to cap an 11-2 run by Faith that propelled the Falcons to a 25-8 second-quarter advantage.
Ethan Hansen added 6 points for FCA.
