2013 Faith Christian Volleyball Schedule Announced

Faith Christian Academy faces an exciting 2013 volleyball schedule. Highlights include three eighth-grade weekend tournaments, matches with public and private schools from across the area and the Lutheran Sports Association tournament held in Springfield, Illinois.

The Falcons open FCA's 19th season of volleyball with a pair of home matches against Cornerstone Christian Academy of Sycamore. The matches are at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at FCA. Faith Christian's new gym bleachers make their debut that day. The bleachers were paid for by a student walk-a-thon last spring and contributions from the Kelly Learned Fund. Kelly is a former FCA standout student-athlete who passed away from leukemia at age 23.

Faith's first away matches are Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Calvary Christian of Naperville. The Falcons' first season tournament is at the Aurora Christian 8th-grade Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21. FCA is defending champion of the tournament.

As in past seasons, FCA plays several public middle schools from the Tri-Cities, including Wredling Sept. 23, Rotolo Sept. 25 and Oct. 1, Geneva South's 7th- and 8th-grade A teams Oct. 8, Haines Oct. 10 and Thompson Oct. 17.

The Falcons also compete for the second straight year in the St. John Lutheran 8th-grade Tournament Sept. 26 and 27 in Elgin.

The season concludes with home matches against Cross Lutheran of Yorkville on Oct. 24 followed by the LSA state tournament in Springfield.

The Falcons' season theme is Time to Shine. It is based on Matthew 5:16 from the Bible, which says, "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
