The Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva is pleased to finally celebrate marriage equality in Illinois

The Rev. Dr. Lindsay Bates, Senior Minister at UUSG, said, “We are
deeply pleased by this official recognition of marriage as a loving,
committed relationship between two people of any gender. That God is
Love is a key teaching in all religions, and it is past time we realized
that love is not the exclusive property of heterosexual women and men.
We applaud the Illinois Senate and House for their votes, and we look
forward to celebrating the marriages of LGBTQ couples.”

The church is located at 110 S. 2nd Street in downtown Geneva and is
officially recognized by the Unitarian Universalist Association as a
“Welcoming Congregation,” a designation that highlights the church’s
commitment to being welcoming to and inclusive of members of the LGBTQ
community.

The church’s congregation is a diverse group of people from
throughout the western suburbs, including LGBTQ members and many allies.
UUSG’s historic chapel, dating from 1842, is available to host same-sex
unions. For more details on weddings at UUSG, visit http://www.uusg.org/weddings/.
