THE HOLMSTAD TO SPONSOR SENIOR WELLNESS FAIR

On May 28, 2014, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., The Holmstad, a faith-based, not-for-profit, continuing care retirement community operated by Covenant Retirement Communities, will sponsor an all-day Senior Wellness Fair. Events will be:

Senior Expo, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Exhibitors will include organizations, businesses and individuals who serve seniors. There will be free health screenings, produce from a local farmers’ market available for purchase, free food samples, raffles, giveaways and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry.

 “The Difference between Humor, Laughter & Joy,” Lynda Tourloukis, 10 to 11 a.m.
Speaker Lynda Tourloukis is certified as a laughter yoga coach and trainer by the International School of Laughter Yoga, Mumbai, India.

Healthy cooking shows with Mark Low, Holmstad executive chef, every 15 minutes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
During 19 years as a chef with Princess Cruises, Holmstad Executive Chef Mark Low visited 56 countries and created a vast repertoire of recipes. See and sample some of his options for healthy cooking.

Lunch, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

 “Be Kind to Your Mind,” Dr. Len Lecci, 1 to 2 p.m.
Dr. Len Lecci, director of clinical services for MARS Memory Health Network and professor of psychology at University of North Carolina - Wilmington, will share the latest information on how diet, physical and mental exercise, and early intervention can influence the impact of memory loss.
