Local Psychologists and Historian to Present Lecture and Discussion on Schizophrenia

On Sun., March 30 at 3 p.m., the Mental Health Ministry of the Unitarian
Universalist Society of Geneva (UUSG) will present a lecture and
discussion on schizophrenia, led by psychologist Peter Coe, EMHC
clinician Page Poris, and historian Roxanne Willis.

UUSG is located at 110 S. 2nd Street in downtown Geneva, and this event is free and open to the public.

The
presentation will describe the history of treatment of schizophrenia,
changes in the nature of institutionalization, symptoms, prognosis, and a
variety of other topics relating to this very serious mental illness.
The speakers will also address bipolar disorder; the importance of early
treatment for both illnesses will be emphasized.

Plenty of time will be available for discussion, and information
will be available about support groups for those emerging from a
psychosis.

This discussion is part of a monthly series focusing
on the many aspects of mental health and psychiatric treatment,
presented by UUSG. For more information on this event or future events,
contact the church at office@uusg.org or 630-232-2350.
