CHARLOTTE'S WEB presented by the Vero Voce Young Performers Series

Vero Voce School of Performing Arts is proud to present the Season Finale to its 2014 Young Performers Series, "Charlotte's Web".

Adapted from the most acclaimed children's book of all time, "Charlotte's Web" is directed by Vero Voce's Theatrical Artistic Director, David M. Rodriguez.  The production features 19 local talented young actors in the stage production adapted by Joseph Robinette from the book by E. B. White.

"Charlotte's Web" introduces us to Wilbur (Izzy Schamberger), a pig born into the world as the runt of his family on the farm of the Arable family.  His life is spared when the farmer's daughter, Fern (Madeline Hotham) begs her father to let her keep Wilbur as a pet.  However, Fern's love causes Wilbur to grow rapidly and the Arables are no longer able to take care of him.  Wilbur is adopted by the Zuckermans, the nearby aunt and uncle of Fern.  It is on the Zuckerman farm that Wilbur meets Charlotte (Tori McKeehan), a kind and wise spider who acts as a mother-type for all of the animals on the farm. When the animals learn that Wilbur will soon be sold to be slaughtered, Charlotte devises an intricate plan to save Wilbur's life, but the humble pig soon learns that Charlotte's noble decision comes at a heartbreaking price.  What follows is a children's masterpiece that displays the powers of love, friendship, and sacrifice.

"I'm thrilled to finally be able to direct Charlotte's Web," says Rodriguez.  "It's an incredibly intelligent and mature story that contains values and themes that are often overlooked."  Vero Voce's production focuses on the characters and their relationships with each other.  "It's important to fully understand exactly what Charlotte is doing in order to save Wilbur," Rodriguez continues, "This is not by any means a cute story, so we're staying away from any "adorable" aspect.  If you see this show, you will not see a children's play; you will see a professional and talented cast that all happen to be very young."

The cast also includes Sofia Barbosa, Riley Brutto, Ben Hommowun, Amelia Hutson, Alaina Karner, Charlie Karner, Jordie Karner, Courtney McCarron, Liam McCarron, Zoe McKeehan, Emily Menke, Anna Niedermeier, Christina Rausch, Maisie Sweeney, Natalie Sweeney, and Meghan Tucker.  The production features Assistant Director Nicolette Calabrese and Stage Manager Whitney Smith, and Producers Dennis Brown and Dawn Harkins.
