Geneva Board of Education: Please Tell Us WHY Our 16 Children From Batavia Highlands Are Being Singled Out!

The residents of the Batavia Highlands, still part of Geneva's district 304 (including myself) are all trying to get REAL answers from the Geneva Board of Education on WHY they are proposing a boundry change that will ONLY effect 16 elementary school children. 

Originally, the proposed boundry change was to impact approximately 60 children, from other Geneva neighborhoods that are located north of Fabyan Parkway.  The officials wanted to balance the enrollment from the Mill Creek area as there is new development planned for that area. Now, the ONLY neighborhood that they are proposing this zone change to effect will be the children that live in the Batavia Highlands area that are part of Geneva's district 304. The children currently attend Williamsburg Elementary School and they are proposing a move them to Western Avenue. How is this justified?

Making a young child change their school, friends, structure, etc is emotionally & socially damaging to these children. How much money is the district REALLY saving by doing this? What is the cost analysis and difference in busing costs? Why was it determined that the other neighborhoods would not create efficiencies in busing costs vs. the Batavia Highlands area? Even though the residents have a Batavia address, we pay Geneva taxes and should have a say.

We shouldn't be made to feel that we are being singled out. This is unfair to our children who have been dedicated students and identify themselves as Williamsburg Patriots!!
