We Want to Know Your Story: How Was Geneva Affected by 9/11?

How has Geneva been affected by 9/11/2001?

What changes have been made here since that day? How has your life changed—or has it? Do you know someone whose life has been profoundly impacted?

As part of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Patch is taking part in the "Action America" effort to do something big, powerful and consistent across Patchland.

There isn't a community in the country that wasn't affected by 9/11, and Patch is in a unique position to help capture that moment in a way nobody else can.

In that vein, we are asking for one picture from every Patch by Sept. 1, depicting someone or something affected by 9/11.

 So, Geneva Patch is looking for anyone who's enlisted or had a family member enlist, who's switched political parties, started volunteering, stopped driving an SUV, marched in a rally, felt their civil liberties have been taken away or carried a remembrance, in a bumper sticker or with a yellow ribbon. 

We're not talking about 9/11 the day necessarily, but the event and its decade of aftermath. 

The minimum ask from each Patch is a single image with a deep caption: 200 words or less. Patches are encouraged to augment that image with full text articles, videos and galleries—which we'll do if we have enough responses.

Patch sites across the U.S. will then pull all of this content together in central locations that show off hundreds of stories of how all our communities were changed by events 10 years ago.

The Geneva Patch deadline for a photo and caption is Aug. 22.
