Today Is the 'Bombe,' Get 'Tangled' and Enjoy a Blizzard—5 Things You Should Know for Thursday, Aug. 11

And, Sunset Park will feature a free outdoor movie starting at dusk.

If you like ice cream, today (Thursday, Aug. 11) is your day. You can donate to an important children's charity hospital at Dairy Queen or participate in National Raspberry Bombe Day. What is a Raspberry Bombe, you ask? We didn't know either, but we found out. Keep reading to learn for yourself and get a recipe to make one.

Also, if you're parked in the Hamilton lot downtown it's probably a good idea to go move your car right now.

Here are five things happening today:

1. You can see a free screening of the movie, Tangled at approximately 8:30 p.m. in Sunset Park. Bring blankets and chairs to make it a comfortable family outing on the lawn.

2. There will be a  at 7 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers. A copy of tonight's meeting agenda can be found by clicking here.

3. Dairy Queen is joining the Children's Miracle Network giving at least $1 of every Blizzard treat sold today to kids in need. Since 1984 DQ has raised more than $86 million for Children's Miracle Network hospitals. This is one tasty charity event; you can help kids and enjoy a delicious ice cream creation at the same time.

4. The city of Geneva will be , weather permitting. Residents are asked to clear the lot of vehicles by 7 a.m. or risk being towed.

5. Today is National Raspberry Bombe Day. A Bombe is a frozen dessert made from layering different flavors of ice cream or flavored ices to form a molded treat. Bombes can be very impressive when it comes to presentation, so maybe jazz up the family dessert tonight with this fancy ice cream treat. Click here for a recipe from Cooks.com.
