In just one short month, downtown Geneva will be transformed into a must stop for affordable and local summer fun — Geneva Chamber of Commerce’s 64th Annual Swedish Days Festival presented by Cadence Health. The fest, that was voted BEST festival in the West Suburban Living Magazine’s Best of the West and one of the top community festivals in Daily Herald Reader’s Choice Awards, will run Tuesday through Sunday, June 18-23.
Free nightly musical entertainment on Central Stage brings new excitement each day. Kick-off Tuesday evening with 7th Heaven — Dead on renditions of Def Leppard, The Beatles, Bon Jovi, Journey and even U2 are delivered at a frenetic pace driving audiences to literally be dancing in the streets. Free evening entertainment continues all week with Nick Lynch & Silversmith, Libido Funk Circus, Final Say and The Moods. Join performers Lindsey O’Brien, Dennis O’Brien, Blind Roosevelts and Majors Junction for afternoon Concerts on the Lawn Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Geneva’s Got Talent semifinalists and finalists will take the stage Wednesday and Saturday to vie for a chance to win $1,000 first place cash prize.
Favorite fun for young visitors includes the Creation Station Art projects, Quad Power Jump, and a special concert by Radio Disney’s Season Four Next Big Thing winner Shealeigh on Friday, June 21. In fact, Friday is entirely dedicated to kids with the Kids’ Day Parade and numerous other child-friendly attractions including the Dunk Tank and lawn games.
Kids of all ages will enjoy the carnival, merchant specials and Saturday’s zip line. When hunger pains hit, favorite American and ethnic fare combined with traditional Swedish delicacies—meatballs, pancakes, and pastries—will be among the many tempting treats.
Lots of Swedish activities, too! Sweden Väst is back, bigger and better on Saturday, June 22, and Sunday, June 23. A block of all things Swedish — entertainment, gifts, art, food an games. Again this year, you can take a step back into history at the Swedish Cottage Walk and Viking Ship Tour in Good Templar Park on Saturday and Sunday.
On Sunday, bring some chairs and blankets so the entire family can enjoy the renowned Grand Parade and create memories that last a lifetime.
