Sandy's Fallout—Expect Winds in the Tri-Cities Through Today
The National Weather Service has a Hazardous Weather Outlook in place for our neck of the woods, but the real high winds will be along the lakefront in Chicago.
The National Weather Service—Chicago has a Hazardous Weather Outlook in place for Kane County and all of Northern Illinois that started Monday night and extends into this Tuesday morning.
But while Sandy batters New York and the East Coast and bruises Chicago, she won't offer much more than a love pat to Geneva, Batavia and St. Charles.
The NWS said "wind gusts will increase to as high as 55 mph along the Illinois shore after midnight" Tuesday.

Waves of up to 25 feet high are possible on Lake Michigan.

But here in the Tri-Cities, it's not supposed to be nearly as bad. The NWS forecast for good old latitude 41.88°N, longitude 88.32°W is for north winds of 15 to 20 mph overnight. The forecast for Tuesday is partly cloudy, with a low around 29, and northwest winds around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
