Park District's Kid Zone Now Open to Sixth-Graders

The popular Kids Zone after-school programs are expanding.

The Geneva Park District is offering a new program that provides after-school care from 3:30 to 6 p.m. specifically for the middle school student. "The Zone" begins this fall for sixth-grade students attending Geneva District 304 Middle School North and South.

Program Director Stacey Fedyski said the new program will operate much like a Teen Center.

"There will be time and resources to assist with homework, various games such as Foosball, Wii tournaments, time in the Stephen D. Persinger (recreation center) gymnasium and more,” she said.

The Zone is an extension of the successful Kid’s Zone Before/After School program, said said Sheavoun Lambillotte, executive director for the Geneva Park District.

“The need for a sixth-grade after-school program emerged from community feedback," she said. "We are extremely excited to respond to our community’s request for this program in the fall and look forward to expanding the program further as future needs are identified."
