News on the Web: January Home Sales Up in St. Charles and Batavia, Down in Geneva

For the month of January, home sales are up in two of the three Tri-Cities towns.

The Kane County Chronicle is reporting that home sales were up in January for Batavia and St. Charles—but not Geneva.

The other bad news is that the median price went down for two of the three Tri-Cities. Geneva and Batavia saw median price levels drop 17-25 percent from the previous January.

With the relatively small number of sales, of course, the percentage changes can be pretty volatile and probably aren't a great measure of the market overall.

Nine homes were sold in Geneva, down 10 percent. The homes had a $259,000 median price, down 17.5 percent.
